Meet Tricia Dietrich

It is an honor and privilege to be a part of the Bee Sisterhood Oracle Project. My name is Tricia Dietrich.  I am a visionary artist and healer, and my art is on the Field Bee and Brush cards.

When I received the card brush and Field Bee, I automatically thought of 2 paintings I had already completed.

Field Bee

A painting entitled “The Visionary” seemed to be a perfect match for the field bee card. The original meaning of the Visionary is the process one undergoes on the return home from an epic adventure or Hero’s Journey. The journey home has two main parts.

  • The first is a process of unwinding. Releasing the past, releasing stress, and relaxing into this newfound version of SELF.

  • The second part is integration. It involves integrating the pieces of the journey and turning events into knowledge that can be shared with the greater community.

In the hive, the field bee flies to faraway lands, sorting and collecting nectar from faraway places, then brings it home to feed the hive. The field bee has to navigate danger and obstacles on its journey to finding nectar. It can only return with a limited amount, so it has to discern how far it must travel and what is most important to take home to the hive. It brings nectar home, and feeds the hive.

A lot of information is written about the adventures of the hero’s journey, but not so much about the return home, or how to integrate the intense experiences on the journey and create wisdom that can be shared with others. This is a pretty big process, with lots of moving parts and evolutions. And it is a process that our modern-day culture often overlooks and creates little room for.

This card is meant to make you think “Oh gosh, there’s a lot going on here!” It is meant to draw you in, perhaps to one part of the image, then slow down and begin to notice other nuances, then discern what is most important, so you can get more of a “Big Picture” experience before moving forward.

Original Painting of the Field Bee Card

I made this piece as I returned from my own Hero’s Journey of both becoming a certified Color of Woman Teacher, and healing from chronic illness. I experienced so much during this time, both good and bad, challenging and miraculous. This painting was made specifically to help me integrate my experience and bring my newfound knowledge to the greater community and world in a way that is healing and beneficial, both for myself and others. And I hope it does this for you too.

The favorite part of this piece for me, is the strong powerful dark feminine figure at the top that is guiding and supporting the young heroine as she returns home with all her newfound abilities.

Brush

Original Painting of the Brush Card

The beekeeper’s brush is a tool beekeepers use to brush away bees from the honeycomb gently, without harm.  The brush helps beekeepers lovingly create boundaries without harm.

I loved the idea of such a tool for life, a tool that could be used to create loving boundaries for the ones I loved.  I had one painting of my inner Muse that had never been finished and immediately knew it was meant to become the beekeeper’s brush.

I painted the brush and felt into the energy of such a tool and how it integrated into my life.  I envisioned a honeypot and the road from the hive to the honey that this brush must take, and most importantly, the energy of love an reverence the beekeeper must embody wile using the brush, and as I painted, the loving spirit of the beekeeper’s brush appeared in the background.

After creating this card, I experienced many situations that forced me to embrace the energy of the beekeeper's brush.  These situations were not easy but taught me how to create boundaries with those I loved in gentle, loving ways.  I was not always graceful in doing this, but the journey has given me some helpful tools that improved my boundary skills and strengthen my relationships.

My favorite part of this piece is the expressive eyes that look almost as if they are standing alone, in front of the face, much like the honeybee resting on the tip of the spirit’s nose.  This is something I, at first, wanted to fix, but felt as if it was meant to be there as a lesson to look at what you love, and observe closely, before sweeping it aside and rushing to the honeypot.
